This morning my husband was out behind the barn with one of our dogs when he walked through some leaves and instantly a swam of wasps rose up and began stinging him.

He grabed a hose and turned the water on full force to the dog and himself getting as wet as possible then he ran like blazes to the house, all the while hundreds of wasps were still chasing him.

Our dog did not get as many stings because of his thick coat of hair and he can run faster than my hubby. He did get stung on his foot and it is red and swollen.

But poor hubby got nailed about 50 plus times by the time he got into the house.

I spent about half an hour pulling out the stingers. He has welts on him that are hugs. Got one on the eye lid and that really looks nasty.

The only thing that has stoped the pain, believe it or not, is Oral gel.

He is doing O.K. this evening inspite of the fact that he looks rather beaten up.

We will have to get a profession pest control man out to rid the property of those things. They are the ground dwellers so not so easy to find the nest. I thought they always hung from above, not so. Some are living high and others are 'low lifers'...have to find some humor in this situation.

You know, movies show these events of people being chased by bees, wasps,ect., they simply run and jump into a lake...guess hubby could have gotten into the pool...but things happen so fast all he could think of was to get into the house and away from the attackers.

I guess the moral to this story is to watch where you walk, huh!

One guy told my husband to throw gas over the area and set it on fire...never mind that not only would it destroy the wasps nest, but the barn, surrunding tree, and possibly our house and who knows, with a little luck the neighbors homes too!

I think I shall offer DH a glass of wine and see if that helps him.

Better yet, I will set a bowl of wine out near the area and perhaps the wasps will indulge then when they are relaxing we can hit them with a big stick. :mrgreen:

That's awful! I am glad he seems ok. I don't think I would have made it so allergic to bees and wasps.

Yikes! You better make sure he's not allegic to them. My foot swelled up last week from horsefly bites. He must be in tremendous pain!
