I was working on my doll quilt and had some candies that i could munch on while i was doing it....and coughed cuz we all have colds... and it got stuck in my throat and I couldnt breathe!!! I crawled over to my door and banged on it and my son (who is 7) saw me and ran over and starting hitting my lower back and it came out. My face was red and tears were pouring down my face and im sure he had to be terrified! Then I started crying and he started crying and just sat and gave me a hug for ages. The things I have to do to get my 7yr old to snuggle!!! Was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me though for sure. NO MORE candy for darn sure.

That would be scary...........but not scary enough for me to give up candy. I love candy.

OMG, thank god you are okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How totally scary. Your 7-year-old should get a trip to the ice cream shop for his good deed. That's great he knew what to do!!!

What a great kid! And a great Momma because you obviously raised him so he knew what to do! I'm sorry you had a fright - it's amazing how easily something like that can happen. :?

I'm sooooooooooooo happy to hear you are okay again!!

I remember when I was a small kid I had one of those round glass candy. It stuck in my throat and I began to gag. There was someone else in the house with me (I think my babysitter) and she started trying to gag me with a spoon and hitting my back. The candy came out and flew across the room! Right then and there I was afraid to eat glass or hard candy. It was only the last few years I started eating them again, and when I do as soon as they are in my mouth and start crunching them down into little pieces. I especially do this with the mint candies you get after your meal at a restaurant. I still looooooooove the gummy candy though!!

Looks like your 7 year olds son is your little lifesaver!

I am soooo glad your son was still awake, and you are ok!!!!! I bet he must be quite proud of himself for knowing what to do!! Good for him!!! :D :D

Isn't there something, about if you're alone, you can lean over the back of a chair, and push against it hard with your belly, to help something come out? Seems like I remember reading something like that?
