Less books on our shelves makes more room for "fabric."

I got a Kindle for Christmas and I love it! They do have a 3g model available as well as their standard wi-fi model. It depends whether or not you have a wireless router available to you which one you choose. There are free books available for the Kindle as well. Many classics are free to download. I have also found some newer books available for free or little charge. Average for some of the newer authors- Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks etc. seems to be $10-$14, which is still much less than a hardbound book. Good luck with your choices!!

If you have a blackberry, there is an app you can download, for kindle or nook.

I have the Kindle download on my iphone. It''s definitely not like reading a "real" book, but it's handy sometimes. I always have my phone with me so can read anywhere, except when riding in the car, though, because I get carsick.
As far as buying afull-sized e-reader, I'm still not sure. It's sort of like the conversation on the Board previously about paper magazines versus e-based ones. There is still something about holding a hard copy book or magazine in my hand that I like.

I love my Kindle. I, too, love a book, the feel of the real book, so I was somewhat leary but once I saw one, I realized how handy it could be. It's great to travel with. I have the Kindle DX, which has a larger screen. It is 3G. New books seem to be around 10-12 dollars. Books that have been out for about a year are cheaper (5-7 dollars) Books printed before 1923 are free. So you can get a lot of classics for free. Downloads are very easy. Also, you can download to your computer and then transfer to Kindle.

I love my Kindle (I don't have the 3G one since I have wireless at home, no need to spend the extra money). It has e-ink... Which makes it look just like a book. I thought I'd want the nook because it's back lit, but that's what makes them hard to read in sunlight. I'm very happy with mine. I just learned that you can also share books on Kindle. LOVE THAT!!!

I have a Kindle and I love it. I have my whole library in a device the size of a book. I have trifocals, darn computer, and I do not get eye strain from the Kindle. It is great for airplane trips.

I was fortunate to get an iPad for Christmas and I love it for reading my books. Although the iPad is not good for reading in bright light outdoors. I believe the Kindle does a better job for outdoor use. I have the Kindle APP for the iPad and I almost prefer that to the iPad version of the ebook reader. It allows you to change the background to black with white letters, easier to read at night and it does not keep my partner awake at night, as I don't sleep very much. Most books ranger from 10 to 15 dollars depending on the Author and the size of the book. I was not much of a reader until I got mine. I think you will love it.
