http://youtu.be/wJH9ToUdMBQ, http://youtu.be/1wqoFg6Vabo, There are others, but these two are good examples. Australian Christmas is in the middle of Summer. It generally has a temperature around 30 degrees Celsius but can get into the 40s.

Silent Night always brings a tear to my eye. I love all the Mannheim Steam Roller adaptations of the Christmas songs.
Silent night, Away in the manger, and oh there are so many..

The Little Drummer Boy and White Christmas
O Holy Night is my absolute favorite & the right people have to sing it. Some have done a "not such Holy" performance but if people like Celine Dion & some others who have powerful voices perform it, it brings tears to my eyes.

Well, this is going to sound bad but when my kids were young, we loved 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer!' We played it LOUD while we put up the tree!! I still love it - sentimental memories ;-) I also love the Grinch theme....I know....I'm twisted! As for a "traditional" Christmas song, 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' wins out!
One of my favorites is "Mary did you know"
I have 3 favorites. "Do you hear what I hear?", "The Little Drummer Boy," and the John and Yoko song... " So this is Christmas." (I think that is the title...it could be "War is Over")
My favorite has always been "Oh Holy Night". When I was in grade school, I was in the choir and we did that song in 3-part harmony. It was beautiful. In the past few years, a new one came out, "Mary, did you Know?". It is beautiful, too.

Midnight mass wouldn't be the same without four of my favorite songs -- Angels We Have Heard On High, Away in a Mnager, Silent Night at the close of Communion and leaving to Joy to the World!
Modern day ... Mary Did You Know? Where's the Line to See Jesus? Secular - White Christmas, No Place Like Home for the Holidays, Silver Bells. |
