Our sewing group did that a couple of years ago. Try Nancy's Notions for info.

Some people in one of the local guilds were making them a couple of years ago. So cute! Minimal sewing required, and they also made shorts for the boys.

Our circle sent 36 to Guatemala and 56 to Haiti this summer. They were made by 4 women. Oh yeah we also sent a bunch of little boy shorts I did not get the number for them. Also none of the dresses were plain they were embroidered or finished with a trim of some kind.

I have done these in the past for a local church. It is a good project. Every little girl deserves a pretty dress. I made them colorful and added rick-rack or lace.

I made 150 of them 2 years ago. Soon after the Haiti earthquake. I sent them o the little girls group in MI and they distributed them where needed. I serged a rolled hem around the bottom. That saved a lot of time!
