Default Quilt display

I was thinking about taking all my dolls out of my glass door cabinet and putting my quilts in there. You don't find many glass enclose quilt displays on line. Do you have on?

I have seen pictures of glass quilt chests but I don't have one. I would box up my dolls and put the quilts in the cabinet. Make sure they are out of direct sun so the edges don't fade.

I've seen them at quilt festival and always thought they were very nice, but I don't know anyone that has one.

I recently had some jewelry appraised by a professional. One tip she shared is open your china cabinets once a month to "air" it out. I would think this practice is really important with quilts.

I have some of my fabric in a glass china cabinet. My son made wood shelves for me as he didn't think the glass shelves would hold the weight of the fabric. I then bought the plastic sheeting that comes on the rolls at Joann's and covered the wood so that it would not rot or stain my fabric. It has been there for a few years and I have not aired it out, but guess I will try to remember to do that from now on. It does get rotated, (from old to new fabric) as I use it. Actually, the shelves do not come all the way to the front and there is also a space between the back of the shelf and the back of the cabinet. They only touch on the sides, so I guess there is airflow. Now you have me thinking!!

My mom has one. It sits on the floor (no legs) and has glass sides and top. Everyone that sees it comments on it. Her quilts look lovely and although they are folded, enough shows to see the patterns. One quilt was designed by her father during the Depression years and her father and mother stitched the applique designs on it while waiting for their first child to arrive. It's faded in spots and well worn, but that quilt is my favorite. If she didn't have this cabinet, her quilts would be packed away somewhere. This way everyone can enjoy them.

I've seen those glass cases at quilt shows. I don't have one but I have an old Barrister's bookcase (the kind with glass front doors that slide up and in) that belonged to my great-aunt. I display my great-grandmother's (her Mom's) quilts in it.

my cousin has her many quilts on display throughout her home like this. She also has them on ladder rungs and foot stools she doesn't use.
