We heard we might also but it is now 7PM so I guess we are ok for today. I hate it when I am right in the middle of cooking dinner.

We had some the 1st part of July 1966, we had several very hot days then. We haven't had any since then. Sorry to hear others are having to go through this.

from ERCOT's website (good & bad news):

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, Inc. (ERCOT), system operator for the state’s bulk transmission grid, canceled the level 2 emergency at 6:07 p.m., and interruptible loads are restored. The level 1 emergency will stay in place until the operating reserves return to higher than 2500 megawatts (MW).

Peak demand was 66,815 MW between 4 and 5 p.m. today – lower than yesterday’s record-high demand since approximately 1,500 MW of load resources and emergency interruptible service resources were dropped as part of the level 2 emergency procedures.

OMG - so sorry to hear that. Down in the Austin area they have been talking about them, but haven't put into effect yet. They are on Austin Energy & I am on PEC - what provider do you have?

It was a bit cooler here today than yesterday. At 8:30am it was 82 with a very nice breeze, I was hoping it would last all day! We've had rolling black outs in the past and yes, it is usually late afternoon at the worse heat of the day.
