I'm finally taking the plunge. There is a quilting guild that meets in a church by my parents' house that my mom keeps saying I should check out. They are having their 1st meeting of the year this Thursday and I'm going to go and check it out. Meeting new people (at least new grown ups) scares the snot out of me so I'm pretty nervous. So send me loads of courage please.

Go Girl!! GO!!! Don't be shy..walk in and start introducing yourself. These are all just quilters like all of us. Generally most quilters are warm and friendly folk...there are exceptions, but then you just steer clear of them.

You Can Do It!! (Remember Rosie the Riveter poster!!)

You'll do fine! Once you get there and start talking to a couple of people, your nerves will calm down. I think you will have a good time. Let us know how everything goes. Good luck!

You won't be sorry you went. There is always someone just as scared as you are. Just try to make a friend and it will all go much more smoothly

LOL, I liked how you singled out 'grown-ups' for being extra scary!

You have more courage than I do, but I know you'll have a wonderful time there!

Their first meeting of this year this week? That sounds funny. We had our weekly quilt/craft group mtg at the library today and two new ladies came in I could tell they were nervous I got up and gave them my seat and moved on down and introduced all around me to them. They both brought things they were working on one heart pillows for the hospital and the other one was crocheting hats for new babies in punkin colors with green ties on top, adorable. This was our monthly eating out day and had to beg them to come with us. When we walked into Cracker Barrel and said seating for 16 the young gal gulped and said 16, ok will be right back. We had two tables 10 at one and 6 the other. They had a ball and will be back with some more things they do also. So smile and jump right in, bring something you are working on helps.
3 years ago I was one of them.

Just imagine that these people are just like the rest of us QBers and you'll do just fine. Walk in with a smile and expect good things, then good things will come your way.
