Default Smashed pennies

A friend of mine has a grandson who collects elongated pennies, you know the ones you get at tourist attractions. They mentioned this web site: Pennycollecter.com. It was fun to look in my area for the locations of the machines.
If I can manage it, I plan on getting a couple to send to him.(not asking pennies, just sharing for someone in your life).

I don't know how I got started with them, but I have over 100.. They are all over. Just came back from Disneyland with a bunch. I was in the throughway driving down from upstate Ny, and in a corner was a nice little machine.

My oldest granddaughter (age 7) collects them too! I recently found a little book that holds them and bought it for her.

We used to get smashed pennies by putting good pennies on the rail road track when a train was going by, We got the REAL thing.

That is so funny.. I grew up down the block from the Long Island Railroad, and we squished pennies, also.

If you live near a railroad track, lay some pennies on the track then wait for the train to smash them. Oh so much fun. May not be perfect shape but different.

ah . . childhood was so much simpler. I am 60 yrs old and I remember my brothers, friends and I used to go up in the rail tower and the switch man used to let us pull the lever to change the tracks for coming trains. yes, we made crushed pennies, swam in ponds with fish and the creek had cows wandering thru. We learned to play spin the bottle in the field by the tracks and played "Army" in that field. All in the same week sometimes. LOL and we did it all with no cell ph, ipod or computers
