Snap, Crackle, Pop ...

Snap, Crackle, Pop ...
Today I proved a point to myself ... The sounds of snap, crackle & pop caught my attention as I was sewing on my spiderweb quilt. I kept hearing this crackling noise and then the smell ... ugh! Electrical! My iron was having a "meltdown"! What a stench ... My point is ... always have a spare iron around. At least this iron lasted many years and it wasn't expensive. Now I'm going to my storage shed and pull out my new one. Let's hope this one lasts for a while. I refuse to purchase expensive irons... I have gone through 3 Rowenta irons. Not spending that much any more.

Thank you for the reminder. My GE iron was given to us as a wedding present 42 years ago, still hanging in there, doing a great job, but---I dread the day when it goes to iron heaven. I bought a fancy Rowenta a few years back at a garage sale, it lasted about a year, and then phffft! I'll take your advice and get a new one.

I also buy cheap(er) irons. My current one is a $20 Sunbeam. I have never put water in it. I just use a spray bottle. But the best feature on this iron is that it stays 'on' for 45 minutes!! I detest the ones that turn off after 8 minutes and that you have to shake to 'wake up'.
