Just had to replace water heater at our house, too. Electric $1400 and if it wants to talk to my phone, I don't want to know about it!!!

We have solar water heater. The first one lasted 18 yrs., and we thought about not doing it again, but when we got the first electric bill we got another solar water heater. LOL Even if we have cloudy weather for 5 days we still have hot water. 45 min. of sunshine is all the solar panels need. I'd like to know what Chasing Hawk's washer and dryer says to her phone. LOL

See! We are slowly being controlled by artificial intelligence and don't really know it - or do we......

Don't want the expense, but I might do a happy dance if my 3 year old stainless steel appliances quit! High maintenance since they show smudges all the time. And show up even more when sun is in the West. From this day forward, notHing but white.

We found that the lower cost water heater lasts as long as the very expensive ones. Our electric bill has never been a concern with the lower cost ones. They are all energy efficient. Solar won't work for us. We had solar panels before. Never again.

I asked the contractor about getting one of the lower-priced units. He said he thought the quality was better for the higher-priced units. What do I know?

I'm not so sure now about the quality being better. I would have had to do some research on that brand of hot water heater to see if the quality was the same on the cheaper models. I'm sure this one was a couple of hundred dollars more for the whistles and bells that I didn't want. There was no time to do that. I had that one day with the contractor, and we were in the store to buy it.

I did save over $300 on the typical cost of this job because the contractor charged me by the hour instead of by the job. He had trouble draining the water out of the old one or it would have been even less.

We replaced our hot water heater about 4 years ago. Just purchased a new one to have on hand for when this one goes out. My husband does the work - cost of the gas water heater was about $600.00. Also purchased a new water pump for the well so we have it on hand when replacement needs to be done. None of these appliances chose a good time to go out!

Nothing, I don't have a smartphone, still using a flip phone.

The washer/dryer is suppose to communicate any problems it is having i.e. dirty filter, clogging dryer vent or something wrong with internal parts. There is an app for this I am told, suppose to be handy when contacting Customer Service.

I just hope it doesn't discuss my "dirty laundry" with anyone.............LOL
