This time it was the stem that snapped off. Otherwise I could have put it back on. As to your problem, sounds like your nozzle is clogged, if you put a pin in the little hole it may unclog it or sometimes running warm water over it will do. After that, when you are finished using it, turn it upside down and spray the excess starch out so it doesn't clog.

I don't use any spray starch or sizing, gunks up my iron and ironing boards. Haven't used any for years.

Take it back to the store where you purchased the can. They should stand behind the products they sell...if not, I'd find another place to shop for it.

The trick is to not drop them, Nancy!!! Sheesh!! (ROL -I'm joking -- it's happened to me to the point I act like a child throwing a temper tantrum when I do it!) ;)

OK...Call me dumb....what is Best Press? and where do I get it. Seems this is the consensus here that it is the best. And the starch mixture...half starch and half water....is that just liquid starch that you buy in the grocery store? I'm getting educated!! Thanks.

What REALLLY ticked me off was that it didn't even hit hard...I stuck my knee out to break the fall and it just rolled off my leg. The nozzle thing broke at such an angle it can't be put back on. I've had the clogged ones where I took it off and ran water thru or stuck a pin in but this sucker just snapped right off!! I know the tantrum trick...you should have heard me!! Well, maybe not.

MaryEllen's Best Press is a "clear starch alternative". It works really, really well, leaves no residue but if very very expensive compared to regular starch. JoAnn's sells it online as well as alot of other places, just google it.

Yes, the starch mixture can be 50/50 or more or less depending on how stiff you want your fabric to be. You can get it at some grocery stores and Walmart also sells it in blue bottles.

I like the starch in the pump spray bottle. I don't like aerosols for anything.
