That durned old lead tinsel would drop from a drying branch and short out the model train that was running 'round under the tree. Picking it off the tree to save was quite a chore but I loved doing it.

As for garland, I made ropes of tiny paper wrapped packages strung with pearls in between. Those garlands go on the tree each year.
