    I have found that now that I have an undercover line the elastic in my knickers does not lose its elasticity and my knickers wear out before the elastic goes. We get very hot weather here and when I used to use a clothes dryer years ago found that the elastic would go very quickly so i would assume that heat has something to do with it as others have said.

    Yes, heat can kill elastic. And so does chlorine bleach. I've been buying swimwear elastic at Home Sew for at least 50 years. That lasts a lot longer. It is resistant to damage by bleach.
    I don't have the link to Home Sew, but it is in Bethlehem, PA.

    thanks for all the info....will try drying the in the house....no outside drying in our area ....and just do a "fluff" in the dryer when they are almost done.........thanks all

    That's an awesome idea have deep mattress and so does dd sheets constantly pulling off I buy expensive sheets so aggravates me I like higher thread counts
