I have a front loading Maytag Neptune washer and dryer and I love them. I have had them almost 5 years and have not had any problems. The washer is designed very well and I do not get water sitting in the gasket area to mildew.

LOVE LOVE LOVE my Maytag top load HE washer! It doesn't have the agitator and the tub is HUGE! The main reason I chose it over a front load is that I can add something after the cycle has begun I can't believe how little water and detergent it uses but still gets my clothes spotless!
The top load machines are so much better than what they used to be!

Hi
About 4 years ago I purchased LG's front loader and dryer. At first I was pleased as it uses less water and really spins almost dry. The major draw back is, that if I drop and item and later want to put it in with the current wash load, I cannot stop and start the cycle. However, my model does has a steam setting, which I love.
