Thankful that you made out OK. I know how it feels to be sitting on the coast and waiting for that thing to get to us. We're far enough from the coast to miss the storm surge, but sometimes it rises "from the back." We have been lucky enough not to get any water, but some have come pretty close to us in the last two or three storms. The winds and tornadoes are what scare me the most.

I haven't watched the news yet, but I understand there is something brewing in the Gulf of Mexico right now. I suppose my eyes will be on the weather channel for a few days.

I am in RI and we lost power at 6 AM on Sunday and finally got it back today (Wednesday) at 2 PM. No electricity, so no water, plus all the other goodies. We didn't get that much rain and the wind toppled a lot of trees causing massive power failure. 84,000 electric customers are still without power and some will be getting it back on Sept. 5. Irene ended up being a tropical storm here. Now, everyone is asking, what would have happened if we had gotten a category 3 hurricane.

I missed all of you. I spent my time reading a book via a flashlight.
So I am soooo happy to being back on BOARD.

Visiting my brother in Sussex Cty NJ when Irene hit. Slept thru most of it, but the lake was overflowing , thankfully, not too much. We were without electricity for day and a half and played cards by candlelight.

We call that a hurricane party. We usually make a big pot of chicken and sausage gumbo.
