What about blinds and valances for window treatment? Drapes are so expensive.

When we needed drapes for a sun room, I looked at Joann`s big pile of drapery material. This room was not used much, but the sun heated up the house in summer and I didn`t care how much it matched, so I realy ended up with beautiful unlined drapes. It was quite the job, but it didn`t cost too much.

I did the same for DS and DIL in their first apartment but I just used safety pins to attach a sheet to the traverse rod. It was supposed to be a temporary fix but they used it the whole year they lived there !

Look at Thrift Stores. You can alter them if needed.

So many suggestions and reminders from the past. My mother was about to throw some sheets away when I first got married. I threw them in the washer with some ritz dye. I threw four flats in and used a whole bottle of Ritz Green. nicest looking curtains for a temporary fix. Moved 3 years later and took them with me. I was told I didn't need the whole bottle but probably wouldn't have gotten the best shade of green. My mother gave me sheers panels. They looked great. There was a wooden cornice above the windows so I didn't really need a valance. I thought they looked great and that was back in the early 70s.

I just ordered some 85" lomg panels from Amazon. Pretty cheap.

they have excellent prices and quite a selection at swagsgalore. google it. also in a pinch, you could use a top sheet because it already has a hemmed edge. just cut an opening for the rod to go thru on the top.
