Default Why the long wait to join Pinterest?

I asked for an invite and got an email saying I was on the waiting list. Do they only take so many members and I have to wait until some drops out or do I have to be approved by other means before joining. https://pinterest.com/

Will be interested in the answer. My niece got me all excited about this site and now I am stuck waiting to be "let in"!

It is more of a storage site for all the online pictures. You see a picture of a quilt or item you like you add it to Pinterest and it stores it in folders for you with the exact web address where you found it. It is much easier then saving the picture in a file on your computer and doesn't take up any computer space. You can see other people folders, it's all pictures and where they are located on the web. Ever look for a picture of something you saw online but can't remember where it was? Just Pinterest it.

You can also join by having a member send you an invite. If you give me your email address I can send you an invite! I really like the site because you can get some great quilt ideas and recipes.

I don't know why some people get on right away and others seem to have a long wait. I applied and had an account in one day. I didn't receive an invite, either.

The social media site I don't get is Twitter. It seems to me it's nothing more than a vehicle for celebrities to blab on about nothing in particular. Yawn.

I asked to join and got the same email. Then the next day I got one saying I was in. But when I found out I had to use Facebook, Twitter, or something else I don't do, I declined. I use something called visualize.us that is also a way to save pictures or projects I want to go back to, but it doesn't cost anything and you don't have to be invited. It's not as flashy as Pinterest, but it works for me. If I want to go look at someone else's pins, there are several bloggers whose taste I like, so I can just go look at their pictures.
