Default Yard Sale Success and the Basement Cleaned Out!

My husband has lived in our house 40 years and I've been in it 10 years. After much nagging, he finally cleaned the basement. We had a yard sale today and sold $480 worth of "junk". Definitely true that one person's junk is another's treasure. My husband has a tendency to be a hoarder, so this was a major accomplishment! We received a notice 2-3 weeks ago of a subdivision-wide yard sale so that helped. He's already built shelves in one section and will build more.

I would kill for some shelves, cabinets, hanging hooks in our basement. Can you say "piles"?

I use to move around a lot and kept things to a minimum. Now I stay in one place and boy, have I hoarded. Did not help when my parents downsized and my FIL passed away.

I do not consider myself a hoarder, but it's hard to throw out stuff you might put to good use at some point. But then you have to organize it. (It drives me nuts that my hubby would rather go and get another one than keep his stuff orderly.) In my previous life, moving every 4 years or so kept the accumulation down, but I've been here 10 yrs now - and my "sometime useful stuff" is getting too big. Guess it's time for a major spring cleaning.
