Default Been here before :):)

Ok I was here back in 2008 and then had serious health problems so never got started with patchwork and quilting
in the mean time I joined the spinners weavers and dyers in my county and they have just started a patchwork group

so here I am hoping to start over - I have done many fabric items but am still a real novice at patchwork as I haven't started yet

with a cushoin and I will see how I go from there - it has lots of seems and quite a bit of cutting so I will be able to use a rotary cutter and do 1/4 inch seams quite well by the time its finished - then an applique flower
and of course I will do the back

at patchwork group I will be working on something else - a sampler quilt want to do it in all black and whites (beacuse I have them) and use teal for accents - the book we are using is by Lynne Edwards
I wonder what your essential tools are
I have a 24" rule a 12" and a 6.5 square a cutting mat a 45cm and 28cm rotary cutter and several machines - my trusty 201 singer and a couple of more - featherweight for one love my hand crank singer - and I have two electric ones far more modern

so that is what I have and I have some money - so what would you by

Hi from Ohio! I started off with just one rotary cutter and a small mat and 24 x 6 ruler and worked up from there.

Welcome back. Sounds like you have the basics to get started. Down the road you can add pieces as you need them. I would invest in a larger cutting mat for cutting larger pieces of fabric soon.

WElcome back from Corpus Christi, Texas, on the Gulf. One thing that was my main purchase was my large cutting mat. My cutting mat is only 22"x35" but if you have a cutting area that will fit the next size up go for it. Make sure you get the self-healing. Easy to maintain. Do not use it to iron on! The 60 mm rotary cutter is good for cutting through multiple layers of material.
