beginner in Michigan
Laura here from Michigan. What a joy to find this site! I sewed for years, put myself through college doing seamstress and mending work on a Singer featherweight, but took a couple of decades off. Now I have discovered quilting and in just 6 months I have taken over the basement.
I have been trying to teach myself free motion quilting on home machine using on line tutorials. So far I have 4 quilts that were good enough to give away. I also have more dog blankets than my geriatric dogs need, but it is a good use for those projects that I am not ready to have anyone see.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada. One of my favourite sites for FMQ designs is www.theinboxjaunt.com/ Lori Kennedy posts new designs on her Tuesday Tutorials.

Welcome from Central California. You will be in good company here. The people are really nice and very helpful too. Just look at Tartan here, not only did she help you out, but gave me a great blog to look at too.

Tartan, bless you. When I opened that resource and fumbled my scrolling, I landed on mention of the writers first attempts at free motion quilting, and it made me fell so much better about my attempts! I keep reminding myself " I am a beginner, not a bad quilter, just learning". Blogs like that one remind me to be patient with myself and just have fun.
