Welcome fom New Hampshire! So sorry for the loss of your dog. I have had many animals, so I know your pain. A hobby can be very cathartic. This is a good way to make a rainbow out of your rain. This is a wonderful message board and I know you'll like it here.

Hello and welcome from Southern California! Your first quilt came out great and now you've caught the "bug". You will learn so much from this Board. Never be afraid to ask a question, there are wonderful quilters here who are always ready to share their knowledge. So sorry for the loss of your dear friend. At some point, as your skills increase, you may want to make a tribute quilt. I'm planning one for our dear kitty who passed away early this year. She was 15.

We spent a fun long weekend in Round Rock 2 years ago. My niece got married in Taylor and we stayed in RR - most of my family from TN were able to make the trip. It was my kids first trip to Austin and they all loved it. Wanted to stay longer, but jobs were calling everyone back home!

My husband and I are both Texas born, but live in TN. I miss it a lot, but my husband loves the mountains and trees here. And grandkids are here, so there is no reason to leave now.
Welcome here and your first quilt looks terrific. And our fur babies are so important to us - sympathize with your loss.
