I have recently discovered the whole new world of machine quilting and am having a wonderful time. I've been taking classes at my local quilt shop and can't believe how many new tricks this old dog has learned.

I recently saw a pocketbook that had it's handles on the side--you could pull on the handles and viola--it became a back pack. I've tried to find the pattern with no luck--does anyone know where I might find?

Thanks for all your help and looking forward to future chats!

Hi, I can't help you with the pocketbook/backpack pattern but want to welcome you to the Board from Minnesota!

Hello and welcome from Ontario. I am no help as far as your pattern question, but hopefully someone will be able to provide you with the information.

I believe the Newport Tote does that. I took a class years ago from my local quilt shop on making this tote and the handles are plenty long enough to turn it into a back pack.

Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting! :)

Thank you everyone. What a wonderful way to meet new friends from around the world and to be able to ask other quilters questions! I'm going to check out Newport Tote to see if I can find the pattern. I'll let you know if I'm successful.
