Welcome from Houston, TX! This is a great place for inspiration and learning. I'd start with any easy pattern and make a lap quilt just to get back into it. You also might look for a quilt guild in your area. I always get inspired and quilt guild meetings and they get me out and around people.

Welcome from Oklahoma.
I think a good motivation would be to put the kids' names in a fish bowl, pull one out and say "you will have a quilt". Then put a picture of the lucky winner in your sewing room. That should do the trick. Or maybe go by their birthdays.

Hi and welcome from Mississippi. So very sorry for your loss. I hope you find quilting therapeutic... there are so many people who need our sewing skills and talents.
Don't force yourself to start anything until you are ready, but maybe instead browse the board and read posts, look at pictures and look on Pinterest. Something will grab you and you'll know when you want to make it.
