Hello everyone! I'm soooo glad I found this site and joined up!!! I have only made 4 quilts,,actually a bed quilt, a lap quilt and a wall hanging, and a quilt for a trucker friend. I sewed the lap quilt and the trucker's quilt by hand, every single stitch from start to finish b'cuz I didn't have a sewing machine,,lol. I'm hoping to learn alot from you seasoned quilters! I already have actually-I've learned just from reading some of these blogs that quilters are FRIENDLY and very helpful! I crochet better than I quilt, but I hope I can start quilting again soon and improve my quilting skills (now that I have a sewing machine,,lol)Anyway, for you upstate NYers, ever hear of Waterloo or Romulus? I lived in both places(at different times of course,,lol)

kate59 02-16-2010 05:03 PM

Hi Miss Suzie! I am about an hour from Little Rock, I go there to the VA medical center for medical treatment. I think Ft Smith is where I need to go to get another military ID card b'cuz I lost mine. Can't go to the comissary or PX without one ya know.

kate59 02-16-2010 05:06 PM

Boston1954 02-16-2010 05:07 PM

Welcome from Oklahoma with a Massachusetts accent. So happy you could be here. It is wonderful!

kate59 02-16-2010 05:12 PM

TY Miss Anne,,I owe my Mass accent to my late husband who was born in Fall River,,lol,,I met him the day I was sent to Ft Dix, NY for AIT,,I loved the way he said bra,,,he'd say brar,,lol

kate59 02-16-2010 05:24 PM

Miss Anne, I see your pic of your dog on a bed,,did you make that bed? I've looked in stores and in the Foster and Smith catalog for dog beds and they are pricey. I have several large dogs and they ALL need beds,,I have decided to make them myself,,,did you design your own bed or did you use a pattern?

Hello from your neighbor in Kansas. I have just started taking up crocheting again after many years away from it. I would like to incorporate into my quilting somehow. You will learn a lot from this site. Great place to be.

kate59 02-18-2010 11:26 AM

ty Miss Cindy,,,and I too have thought about putting crocheting into a small quilt or wall hanging as an experiment,,to see how it washed,,if you do it before me though, can you let me (us) know how it went?

cyniree 02-18-2010 11:30 AM

I sure will.

kate59 02-18-2010 11:44 AM

It is a beautiful day here in Amity! Hi Kate, I'm in Benton. I also crochet and knit some and have now started to quilt. Made several log cabin quilts many years ago tho and have a counted cross stitch block quilt in my quilting frame.

kate59 02-18-2010 05:43 PM

Hi Miss Grandme!! and welcome to a wonderful site! This Quilting board is great! I am meeting (online)so many wonderful ppl! You aren't too far from me, neighbor! I don't knit well,,I've really only made two knitted things that are worth mentioning-a sweater for my son eons ago (he was 17) and a little jogging outfit for a baby. I crochet pretty darn good if I must say so myself,,lol,,except for doggy sweaters,,I think I did something wrong with mine b'cuz my room mates dog can't walk in the one I made him,,LMBO! I've made the Irish chain quilt, a twin size log cabin, and a bear's claw twin, but I plan to learn paper piecing and other quilts, oh and I made a pinwheel quilt ,,,the last 3 were done by hand,,every stitch, b'cuz back then I didn't have a sewing machine, I also did a cat wall hanging,,anyway, nice to meet you

Jo Belmont 02-18-2010 07:25 PM

Welcome! I'm fairly new here myself - from VERY upstate NY (30 mi to Canada). You lived in that oh-so-beautiful Finger Lakes area in NY; I sure hope you relocated to someplace beautiful in Arkansas.

You were also right in the snowbelt and I'm sure you don't miss that. Being as far north as we are, we're spared much of it, but we're still here with about 8-10" most of this winter. It's great quilting by the woodstove.

You'll enjoy this forum - what talent! Welcome and enjoy.

Hi and welcome from Oregon

kate59 02-19-2010 09:19 AM

Hi there Miss Jo,,yes I was in the Fingerlakes region,,I used to love going to Seneca Lake and just sitting there and vegging,,lol,,We have had snow here a few times here, reminded me of upstate Ny's lake effect snow,,but it's all gone now, sun is shining, dogs are outside and quiet for a change (I have 11 fur-babies,,lol)
Ty for the welcome,,and yes,,,there is so much talent here!! I feel a little intimidated,,but I am hoping to catch up to the newest artist soon,,lol,,right now I'm an OLD newbie artist,,I can't create without a pattern,,sigh,,,hope to chat with soon--kate
