Not real great with the color wheel either but I go with using what is pleasing to me and sometimes ask the hubby. A quilty friend says I throw everything in a quilt, including the kitchen sink! I think of that as a compliment but fairly certain it's not meant to be one.
Point is - color wheels are great but so are our instincts about what works and what doesn't work well together.
