Hmmm... If you used layer cake 10" squares, then I guess it would make two 8 1/2" 9-patch blocks?

I have always used the strip method to make 4-patch and 9-patch but this is a good way if you have squares to start out with.

i love those 9 patches, but with further exploration----there's a really great 3D heart pattern on there--thanks 4 sharing!

I make all my nine patches this way... This idea also came from annalenaland on line on her blog spot... Thanks for sharing this for those board members who have not seen it done this way Yet!
