Default New EQ 8

If you have EQ6, EQ7 or EQ Mini you can get the upgrade here:

http://electricquilt.com/online-shop...c638-303218009

I don't know if I will upgrade. I like EQ7 and it does everything I need it to do. Any one have any thoughts about the new Version EQ 8?

The new EQ 8 is $239. I may go ahead and upgrade while it is $79 for the EQ 7 owners,

Default Eq8???

Just taking a break from work on a t-shirt quilt and checked email and saw one for EQ8. See that I can up date my EQ7 to 8 for about $75 (Christmas present??) but guess the thing that irks me is I purchased their books so I could figure out how to use EQ7 and they say that the books' pictures of screens will not make any sense--only usable for the written part.

I was hoping for a couple of improvements: greater ease of importing fabric swatches from manufacture sites; no hidden toolbars; easier to draw; ability to design more modern quilts easily; and ability to draw the quilting lines on the block/quilt.

From the email ad it looks like the importing of swatches may be possible; that the toolbars are no longer hidden; they claim that the quilt layout can be customized easier and drawing is easier. No real mention was made about previewing Drawn quilting lines.

Comments for all of you--and especially if you have some 'inside info"!

I just checked my email, too. I'd rather spend my $75 on fabric than an upgraded version..Don't get me wrong, I like my EQ7 and use it often, but not enough to warrant spending more$. I've never been happy with the customized quilt portion, so have left it alone.

As far as blocks, I've gotten pretty good at redrawing the blocks I want to use.

I'm going to pass on the upgrade...satisfied with what I have and don't want to go through a new learning curve.

i'm thinking I'll do the upgrade while it's on sale--I know the EQ7 could do more than I do with it, but find that it's not real intuitive which means I end up digging out my books and it feels like I'm not learning it very well. So if EQ8 does a better job of being "obvious" I might go ahead.

I have been on the fence about getting one at all...I put off on the EQ7 with rumor that the 8 was coming out. I’m still not sure it would be worth $250 for the program if I only have time for a handful of quilts each year until I retire?

I started with EQ3 when it was MS Dos. I remember when the designer said never would EQ be made to run on Windows platform. LOL. I have gotten each upgrade over the years so over the course of time I have paid about or more then the new program cost now. If someone is buying it for the first time it's the same cost but all at once.

Wow Onebyone, you must be a pro at EQ! I've had mine for 7 years and still haven't worked out everything. i use mine mostly for fabric/quilt design not for stitching placement. I have messed in the image area, but don't draw well so creating appliques etc is not my style.

My email said $37.48 from October 23 to November 7 to upgrade. I guess this is only because I just upgraded from 6 to 7.

I will upgrade no doubt. This company has been the very best when I needed help. Screwed up my computer and had to reload Windows and they helped me get everything working again. Unlike Babylock which said I could no longer load my Masterworks without purchasing an upgraded version. Needless to say I was very upset and those are the times when I appreciate a companies that honors the product I purchased and doesn't tell me I can only load the program so many times.

Just read the manual is available free of charge as download. That works for me! I have however always purchased the disc, not sure what happens if I screw up again or get a new computer should I decide to download the program.
Anyone know how that works?
