Could a Cross-stitch Chart Convert to Quilt Pattern?
I saw this cute, free chart for a St. Patrick's Day cat and thought since the squares are so prominent a person may be able to cut them from cloth and make a quilt.
What do you think? http://www.happinessiscrossstitching...h-pattern.html |
I know I have seen a couple of quilts made from a cross stitch pattern. I had thought of doing one but most patterns are so intricate and have some many shadings that it seemed too overwhelming to attempt. The pattern you posted seems reasonable - I say go for it!

I think you could piece it out of squares of fabric. It will be really cute!

There was a post not too long ago that one of the board members had taken a cross stitch pattern and pieced it into a wall hanging. Eleanor Burns has a book out http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponlin...play.asp?i=980 and here is a video showing how she does it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmwf-...XkCSRA&index=7

I don't see why not!

The viewer's choice winner at a National quilt show was a Bride picture done from a cross stitch design. It was awesome and very complex. Cross stitch are only squares, half squares and quarter squares. So go for it.

There is a new free class called Pictures to Pixel quilts which is basically a cross stitch quilt. http://www.craftsy.com/class/picture...xel-quilts/160 Would give you information on how much yardage, etc. Check it out.

to make it easy they have the material with a grid on it.It is in with the infacings and stuff at the store.A square of fabric for each square in the crosstitch grid. after it is layed out you iron it down and then sew the seams row by row the turn the other way and sew. just fold over row by row.
