Has anyone made these?

http://www.make-stuff.com/projects/quiltball.html

I found this person selling them for $20+. Check out her website.

I've seen them sold at craft fairs for about $10. Can't believe she's getting what she is getting for them.
Was thinking I could make some of them for this craft fair I have coming up.

**edit**
I was just reading on her website....she's saying

Are we to assume that she is saying SHE has the copyright on the ornaments? I don't see how that can be. Maybe the copyright on the fabric colors, but I still don't see how she can do that.

I've never made them Terri but I have seen them and they are really nice. Good luck if you make them and post pics too.

reneebobby 09-02-2008 03:40 AM

Wish I could but I have so much to do and no time to do it. lol I think i need to clone myself so I can work at work and sew at home all at the same time.

same here. I have so much to do, I don't know where I'm going to find the time. I don't work outside the home, so that's a good thing...well, sometimes it is.

Exactly, Oh well, what are we to do.

On her thingy, it says that nothing on her website can be copied or reproduced. I'm taking it to mean that she's THINKING she has the trademark/copyright on the pattern? I don't think so!
So, if I'm reading it correctly, she is saying that you CANNOT make the ornaments, but then again, she could be saying you CANNOT use the same fabric and make a ball that looks like hers.
I'm thinking she needs to check around the internet because I have seen MANY that look like hers, with charms, glitter and all.

Terri, I made these over 5 years ago and they are very easy and very pretty when completed. I can't believe she's selling them for so much though! They are a lot of fun to make...I used short half inch pins to hold the fabric to the styrofoam. You can make them in any size that you can get the stryofoam balls in, just add more rows of fabric. Hope this helps. Let me know if you get stuck, but the directions were very clear.

I'm going to have to make a trip to Ben Franklins to see if they have the styrofoam balls, so won't start them til maybe next week.
