Funny you posted this , I spent the weekend making string potholders in an effort to reduce my scrap piles.

I've finished my Spiderweb top, I am working on a string pieced lap top and now I see some string pieced pot holders in my future. My scrap bin isn't getting much smaller.:D

I like to put the batting on to begin with and then sandwich the back right sides together and then turn after sewing. Then I don't need To bind it. I just need to diagonal stitching as well as top stitch around edges. Saves a lot of time as I don't like to do small binding. Just my way of doing it.

I make these a lot, so thanks for the reminder......I had kind of forgotten about how great they really are for a small hostess gift......:)

Tartan......strings just grow and grow and grow....LOL! Old strings never die, they just multiply!

This was a good idea. I am in need of potholders, the ones I made years ago are so worn. Just recently, I made the remark that if I knew someone that sewed, I would have new ones. LOL It seems those just were not on my "to do" list. I think I had better add them.
