This is how I do it but use a Frixon pen to mark where the pin in the point is as a sewing guide as it can be awkward to keep that pin in place while you are sewing. By marking the point you can have a line of stitching that has several points along the way. I'm a point and corner seam match fanatic and this works for me. I use the Frixon pen because the mark comes out easily when I iron or wash but any washable marking pen will work.

That was how I was taught to line up seams. But instead of using 3 pins at each seam, I was taught to use the forked pin. Works great!!!!

I now use a drop of elmers glue to keep the seams aligned. Hit it with a hot iron to set the glue. It works great
