Yes, my Mom has one that she's had since I was a little girl and I'm 62....I came across it the other day when I was rearranging a closet to make more room...Never realized she had it...It's been sitting in the case for years, hasn't been used at all that I know of....I know this, it's as heavy as my truck!! lol

thank you for the reply Sandy. I had mom's too and just as heavy. Is it Pink? I gave mine to a friend and have regretted it, but I had to move it to feed the bird and move it to use the washer and dryer. I had no room for it. I'd put it on top of my sewing machine table (machine was broken) and try to use it and I'd have to stack phone books on a chair to reach it. Just not a good thing. I miss her and might get her back. She is so pretty. If I get it back I'm posting a picture of my mom's pretty little Atlas. She got it back in the '50's....traded her treadle and boot. So sad. Ad in news paper count the foot prints amd wom a vaccum cleaner, or something like that and send in your answer. She did and several months later he came. She said well I bought a vaccum, don't need it now. He said well what about a portable electric sewing machine. Her ears perked and he talked her into BUYING the machine. She said it was the best $54.00 she ever spent. Paid it in $1.20 increments until it was hers. Well, thanks for the reply. Enjoy yours. Mine was named Pinkie by my friend. Don't think mom ever named anything, everything was Minerva! because it got on her nerve-A. We rhymed everything.

There was a pink Atlas for sale locally here (well about an hour drive) and I *think* they were asking like $40. Keep your eye on Craigs List if you want to replace it!

Thanks Candace. I'm not looking to buy, but for straight stitching, it was a work horse. Mom use to darn with it and my friend told me it didn't free motion. I think she just dropped the feeddogs and pushed it around. Thanks for the information.

I have a "Pink" atlas sewing machine. It was my $15 auction bargain. Came with all the atchments and that manual. She sews like a dream.

Oh KatFish, enjoy her. And, Greensleeves, my mom was a nut case. Yes somewhat fun, but we were mountain folk and the drum beat wasn't the same as down here in flatland. We kinda zigged when the world zagged. I'd fall out laughing at things when others seemed shocked at her actions. Once she even pulled the hair on a man's leg at the meat counter in the store. I lost my breath when I gasped, and she said, "well he must have wanted us to see the hair on his leg and I just wanted to see if it was real." I'd never seen a man in a pair of shorts! Not sure if she had......Lawwww, she was a nut case. It's a wonder the dear gentleman didn't shoot us. Well, up in them thar hills, it probably would have been the finality. hmmm, she was my special nut case and I miss her dearly. Thank you for bringing her back to me tonight. Blessings, Ruth
