I have one also, somewhere. It was given to me last year at the quilt fest in Houston. I will look for it as I have never used it. If I find it I will let you know.

This is so odd my mom just showed me one on Saturday and asked if I had ever heard of or seen such a thing, I said no. And here comes a thread asking about them. looked like it would easily get lost it is so tiny and more work than a ruler.

HA...just had to TEST this..yep, two #2 pencils taped together made a perfect 1/4" allowance..go figure!

I have tried the 2 pencil thing . If you shave a bit off the pencils you get pretty close to 1/4 inch but it changes depending on how sharp your pencils are.. ssuzz

wouldn't a washer the right size work?
