I have found that the most common used dies are the strip dies, like the 2, 2 1/2 and the 4 1/2 , which can also be used to cut into squares. They usually sell for $79 but I've been able to find mine for as little as $49. also if you goto accuquilt.com they have alot ideas for patterns

Connie,

I'm sorry, I wasn't very clear. What I was meaning was that you could cut a 3 in. strip then lay the strips cross ways on the die and run it through again and get 3 in. squares. You could also cut 3 in. strips and lay them back on the die blades to cut them in half and get 1.5 in. strips. Is that any clearer?
