Really! I couldn't believe it either! My quilt top was 108x110. I took two sheets for the backing. When I picked it up- my quilter had cut the 6 1/2 outer border down to 3". She said the top was too wide for the sheet. Duh - that is why I took to sheets!! Now the quilt isn't wide enough for my bed. I am really upset!

I absolutly cannot beleive that. That is horrible. Would the framer have cut the Mona Lisa to fit his frame?!?! this is not a good LA'er. At the very least she should have called you to discuss. I don't think she would have seen a dime of my money on this one.

Wow! That is pretty unbelievable. I LA and if someone gave me a backing that was not the right size for the top I would contact them and tell them the backing was too small.
Now, if someone gave me two sheets and expected me to piece them to the appropriate size backing and then cut down I would do it but there would be an additional charge for that. I expect backings to come to me already peiced and cut to the appropriate size for the top. Backings need to be 6" bigger on all 4 sides so there is enough to attach to the leaders, account for a top being out of square and to test tension. But to cut down a top to fit the backing?? Not good, she should have contacted you prior to cutting anything down.

WOW-WOW-AND TRIPLE WOW!!!
I think she should have called you before she took the liberty to downsize your quilt top! Trimming an uneven edge is one thing but 3 1/2"!!!!! That makes your quilt 7" narrower now doesn't it?
I think I would have a serious issue with that...
