people use invisible threads- top and bobbin---every day!
all you can do is give it a try and see how it works for you
i have a hard time with invisibles (sometimes) but found when i use (bottom-line) bobbin thread i do better--but my machine is quite picky/finicky---
sometimes i have to just slow down to work with it

who ever told you that probably had problems using it and decided it was (bad)
thousands of us use it daily -- top and bobbin--without issue.
I have head if you use it in the wrong place on your sewing machine it can wreck it. Can't remember if its the bobbin or upper thread.
