Amite, LA shops?
#1
Hi, I am going to Louisiana mid April and want to be able to visit some quilt shops and possibly a quilt show. Is anyone from that area? We are also going to do some sight seeing, any suggestions?
I will access to a car so I can drive a shortish distance.
Thanks so much.

Hi, I'd like to suggest visiting this site http://www.louisianatravel.com/ and ordering the travel guide.
There are many many options for your visit so a little planning might help to use your time here wisely.
At the moment, I am not aware of any shows that are going on in the area. Hopefully some other members from Louisiana will pop in and help out!
Oh, and get ready for some really really good food!

If you are going to be near Laplace or New orleans or on the north side of Lake Ponchatrain check with "SWEET" . I met her when I was down there and she makes a great tour guide. And check this site for LQS

Not sure there is a quilt shop in Amite (my DIL is from there) but there are 2 good eating places. One is The Front Porch and the other is just a little store that sells great poboys!!!
If you can, drive on to Baton Rouge. I bet you will find some great quilt shops there!
Stop at the state line Welcome Station and you can pick up some great brochures.
Have fun!
