She 's gotta have mountain dog or st bernard in her - she looks huge. But she really is so cute I like you would have adopted her. Mine is a rescue too.
By the way never made a shelter quilt but have looked into it.

I live in Madison county North Carolina, our animal shelter is so limited on resources, we donate old towels, blankets, and we fill pillowcases with scraps of fabric and fleece.

Great idea. I send food and towels/ old blankets to ours. I can't go in there anymore because I came out with armfuls of pets. The last time I grabbed 2 kittens and cried my eyes out the whole time because of the awful abuse that I saw the poor dears had been thru. I guess, according to my daughters, I may have freaked people out with my crying. It just came over me and I couldn't stop. I'm not even embarassed about it because my heart felt like it was gonna break! Now I just help the ones that end up on the streets around our neighborhood or the ones the vet needs help with.

Our shelter uses towels, blankets, etc that can be easily tossed in the wash, disinfected and dried. Pretty hard on piecework.
Making a quilt for a fundraiser might be a use for your cuttings. One of our local humane societies has a thrift store. Perhaps some quilter would like to purchase zip bags of scraps.
Bless you for your concern. God sees even the fall of the sparrow.
