Any time you want to do couching or run ribbons and beads as an embellishment, it requires a foot that has a grove in it. These feet are designed for that purpose. I'd say that it is a handy foot to have IF you do that type of embellishments. If not, it's a waste of money.

Have some of the originals. Used the same feet on every low shank machine I had until I went back to Pfaff. Pfaff has the equivalent feet, some with cutout for IDT,
Originally bought for Pfaff 1471. Used on Viking Rose, Viking 1+, Brother PC6500, and Babylock Ellure. They do work and do well for machines that don't have the special feet you want.
