Is it "ok" to mix batiks with other prints? Or does it just not look right?

It's all a matter of personal taste. There is no quilt police that makes those kind of rules. I think that many batiks function like neutrals or blenders. Some people like to use all batiks, others mix and match.

I agree with Madquilter, it's really up to the creator of the piece to decide. I think maybe you are questioning this because you are looking at each element of the block as individual, rather than standing back and looking at the block as a whole. When your quilt is done, you will not just look at one block, you will look at the whole quilt, so the perception will be different.

I hope what I just said made sense....I do go off on a tangent sometimes...Anyway...looking good.

My pleasure.. I love mixing all sorts of things.. was told by one of the ladies who owns a quilt shop.."she uses stuff that shouldn't go together at all, but it looks great"...
Don't let anyone tell you things will NEVER go together.. use your imagination. you'd be amazed where it takes you...

I mix everything as well....I try to look at each individual fabric and my pattern..I never actually thought about that..I say whatever you like fits!

I love the look of batiks and yarn-dyed plaids together. You just have to wash the heck out of the plaids, because they shrink so much and the batiks don't shrink at all.

Sorry it's so dark and fuzzy - it was in my early days of digital photography. It's the "Chelsea" tote bag pattern. I am sorry, but I can't remember the designer:

Oh those colors are fantastic they really compliment each other great job those blocks are stunning!!!!!!!
