mixing batiks with other fabrics?
I'm gathering fabrics for a quilt that needs a lot of different ones. I have quite a few batiks - is there any reason why these shouldn't be included with non-batik fabric?

No - I do it all the time as you can see on my avatar quilt. I think this is one of the old wives tales that persist. I believe, although I don't hand quilt myself, that some batiks can be a little more difficult when hand sewing due to their tighter weave. Happy quilting

batik's are just another cotton quilting fabric. many of us who use them a lot mix them all the time- many of my quilts including that newest bargello have many batiks mixed in with regular prints, fairy frost's and solids. you might want to check them to make sure they are not going to bleed (some batiks tend to bleed more than others) prewash them- beyond that they do not need any special considerations- most of my quilts contain quite an assortment of fabrics- including batiks - I've even mixed flannels with regular cottons and batiks without any problems.
