I KNOW that asking for quilting advice from multiple quilters gets multiple and often conflicting responses.........BUT my sister has asked me to make her a quilt and I can say nothing but SURE! When asked for colors, her choice is white ... many shades of white with maybe a little pale pink.
OK, here's the question. Do you think a D9P could work? What other pattern might work?
Her birthday is in early April so I don't have that much time and my stash is totally void of anything suitable even for a start.
Thanks, everyone. I'll look forward to reading the advice!

Have her help you pick the colors. Perhaps a log cabin or a triple rail fence pattern. I would think mabe a log cabin of the 2 I suggested. Hope this helps.

How about a whole cloth quilt; quilted with pale pink?

I like the idea of a whole cloth quilt, quilted in pink. Or large squares of different white fabrics with designs quilted in pink on each and maybe pale pink sashing?

White, white, and more white? I wouldn't use any pattern that relies on contrast between lights and darks (e.g. log cabin), because there won't be any. I would probably make something easy with fairly large blocks, like a YBR. This could get really interesting. Please post a picture when you're done.

Whole cloth quilt was what came to me when I read your posting something like a polished cotton that would have a bit of sheen to it. I like the idea of a pale thread for quilting

My guess is that she really doesn't want white, but is just afraid of too much color. Choose 3-4 pale colors and have her choose the one (or two) to mix with white. All white? She might as well get a down comforter and be done with it.

I saw a quilt blog a while back with a very subtle shades of white quilt -- it was really lovely. I think the post title was something like Turning Down the Volume, but I have no idea which blogger it was.
