I bought felt and then ended up not using it for that project. Now I have all this felt. Anyone use it for wallhangings? It's not soft so I wouldn't use it for a quilt, but I'm thinking about it for a wallhanging. I also want to practice FMQ - would you use that for a sandwich or not? Not really the same thing as batting, but....

I know someone here will have answers for me ;-)

    TIA

Might work for a wallhanging. Don't know about washability.

It probably would be fine for a wall hanging...but I wouldn't use it for a quilt.
I used it to make a quilted cover for my MIL's mailbox, many years ago. I wonder what ever happened to that? My FIL probably tossed it after she passed on.

i've used it for wall hangings and it works great.

i did an art quilt of cotton and silk on to felt as the background and then i used another piece of felt for the backing and cut it about a 1/2 inch larger then the piece.

i used pinking shears to cut the felt backing.

it served 2 purposes - it covered the endless stitches from attaching beads/buttons/etc and by pinking it i didn't have to put on a binding.

i attached the felt backing to the felt art piece with a fancy stitch on my machine.

I should have studied harder in 7th grade. The link is all in French. I know it can be translated on the computer, but I forgot how. :-(

I have used felt on many of the kids quilts, no problem.
The last time I bought felt for a quilt it was a little stiffer than before, it worked ok, but I prefer a softer touch.

I use it all the time for wallhangings, tablerunners and in potholder's. You can also use it tote bags as the extra stiffness is better than regular batting.
