I'm from Wyoming; right now we're having a light snow, will definitely be a white Christmas!
Have a question: how can I get rid of the light pencil marks from marking a border with a stencil? Have tried the Magic Rub eraser which takes some of it off, but not all. Hate to give a gift that has pencil marks on the border.
Thanks for any help.
Have a Merry Christmas!

Karen, I've washed my quilts in the past and all of the pencil marks did come out--course that could be just luck too :!: , but anything's worth a try! I'm in Northern Colorado and it was snowing here earlier too. Good luck and Happy Holidays :D

I always wash my quilts prior to giving as a gift. Could be that I just love the look when taken the quilt out of dryer, as it crinkles around the stitching, giving it an old comfy feel. Have a lovely holiday.

As for the pencils marks.. I strongly suggest not using regular pencils, but using quilt pencils. I used regular pencils for a while and had no trouble with the marks washing out.. then one day I used them on a quilt and they never did all wash out! PTL it was a quilt for us and not a gift and the marks are not that noticable.. in fact, I suspect you wouldn't see them if you weren't looking for them... but I know they are there! I quit using regular pencils then!

Karen,
We should not use regular pencils as they contain graphite that is waxy and difficult to remove. Suggest you use the blue markers next time as they disappear with a spritz of water.
I believe Fons and Porter had a solution for this removal problem. Don't quote me on this, but I recall 1T of WHITE kitchen dish detergent, 1T of alcohol and 3T of water. Mix together and use a Qtip and stroke the lines until they disappear. Then use a Qtip with just water to rinse. -- Please try this on a scrap before using it on your project since I am not sure of the exact formula.
Please advise the rest of us about your results. Suzanne
