Best cutting mats--need all your thoughts
It's time for me to buy a new one. Alvin? Adir? I did see a few with those when I did a search. I read Olfa is too thin... I want this to be a 10+ year purchase.
I use a 24 by 36 and considered 30 by 42, but I turn it once I trim the end so I don't have to move the fabric. The bigger one would be hard to turn.
Steer me in the right direction. :-)
Update--I was browsing amazon and couldn't pass this deal: http://www.amazon.com/Alvin-Cutting-...ng+mat+24+x+36
So--hope it works well!

Olfa is too thin? I've had mine for a long time and haven't had any problems with it. I don't understand what you mean by "too thin". I have never cut through it. It's lasted for years. I'm sure they've come out with new and improved mats by now, but I have a 24x72" Olfa and I'm not about to trade her in. She's a biggie!

I just bought an Alvin from their website (18 x 24) and pain 18.99 for it. I love it. It is nice and thick. Thicker than my Omnigrid, which I ruined. So as long as I don't put my ironing mat over the top of it, it should last a good long time.

I really want one of the Martelli mats. They don't warp and with light color on one side and dark on the other makes seeing exactly where to cut easier. You can roll them up to transport or to store and they go right back flat when you unroll them Also think I want one of the Martelli rotary cutters, but want to try one before I buy it.

The Martelli mats are superior plus. Th cutters are in the same class. Joann's has the cutter and you can get it with the 50% off coupon. Go to the Martelli website. They have frequent sales.
