Auto threader shredding thread

Auto threader shredding thread
When I use my auto threader, instead of leaving a little loop to grab, it has all of a sudden begun to pull the thread right up to the top of the threader and it shreds it.
Any advice or is it time to call the Dr.?

Are you using a new brand/weight of thread? If not, it sounds like something is very slightly out of alignment, so the hook of the threader is going through the thread instead of around it. I would take it in for service - I can't adjust that little hook wire on my own.

On my Bernina, I always press the needle up down feature before using the needle threaded. If yours works similarly, it needs to be in its most up position to use threader or you end up bending the wire and it has to go to the shop. Change out your needle in case it has a burr and make sure it is fully inserted, make sure the needle is in its most up position and try again.

Changed thread and it fed through fine. The original thread that was shredding was a Sulky, so that may have been the problem.
Thanks everyone. Glad it's not a problem with my machine!

Not surprised about the Sulky. Here's proof: take a small length of another polyester thread. Pull both ends. Tough to break? Now do it with the Sulky. Breaks way too easily! I had the same problem with the thread getting caught up in the auto threader. The Sulky was also terrible with my embroidery machine. I now only use strong polyester threads, and very rarely will I use cotton. That is kept mainly for potholders. Use a long narrow nosed tweezer to clean out the blade area of the automatic threader. Threads and lint catch up in there fairly quickly.

What a wonderful feeling when you can solve the problem yourself without the expense of going to the dealer. Congratulations.
