I see quite a few people talking about their avatars but none of the quits are the same. What is an avatar?

The avatar is the small pic you see under the names on here.Most ppl use pics they've saved, a quilt,etc.

I wondered that also. Thanks for the info. The pics under the names are beautiful. I like looking at them also.
