    Default Baby Lock Stitch Regulator

Well a friend just convinced me I could actually FMQ. I'm gonna try it on my next quilt - my questions are:

I have the Baby Lock Unity - how much of a difference does the stitch regulator make - is it worth the expense to get if theres a chance I'd get a Long Arm within 6 months?

Where can I get one at a reasonable price? My dealer wants $1500 for one.

I have Ellismo gold and use the tru stitch, it really helped me and I love it, However if a long arm is in your future I would not invest in it, as I have a baby lock Tiara on the way.... it uses a different tru stitch. I wish I had waited, I know once I use the larger machine, I won't be FMQ on the Ellismo.

Thanks Gail. Funny you mention the Tiara. I was at the dealer today and really took it for a drive, now I'm thinking Tiara over Crown Jewel. What to do, what to do......

IMO, you don't need a stitch regulator, you need practice. I tell this to most everyone. Invest a year to practice (maybe a few hours per week, twice per week if you can- I only quilt on weekends) if you still can't get it down, then get the regulator. It is amazing how much practice helps though, and then you have a thousand extra dollars to spend on fabric
