IMO, you don't need a stitch regulator, you need practice. I tell this to most everyone. Invest a year to practice (maybe a few hours per week, twice per week if you can- I only quilt on weekends) if you still can't get it down, then get the regulator. It is amazing how much practice helps though, and then you have a thousand extra dollars to spend on fabric
